[diy] fan fann

what else can a fan do besides cooling you down?

to make you very own fan statement necklace, you will need:
1. a traditional vintage fan, like the one shown here
2. friendship band threads
3. pocket file holder
4. button
5. super glue, scissors, nail file

step 1. cut the nylon strings that holds the fan planes in place
so that they can be separated from each other.
your fan should look like this after cutting the nylon strings.

step 2. cut the fan planes to desired length.
they are pretty thin, scissors will suffice to do a good job.

step 3. get your nail file, and file the newly cut edges to keep them smooth.

step 4. measure thread to desired length, fold them 2 times over,
to make it the thickness of 4 threads.
weave thread through the fan planes according to your desired arrangement.

step 5. secure each planes in place by making a knot at the back of each piece.
once you are done, apply super glue to fix the overall shape.

step 6. stick the entire piece onto a cut out piece of plastic from a pocket file holder.
this will ensure that the fan planes will not slit down in between because they are pretty fragile.
be patient with this step. apply super glue and press down to stick the planes onto the plastic.
once done, trim the extra plastic away.
because its transparent, nobody will know you did this little trick to secure your necklace.

step 7. end your necklace with a button like how i did it for the button pleated necklace.
and tadaaa! you are done!

wore the fan statement necklace out with my yellow top.

yellow top is another diy. i cut out the neck and snip the sleeves to 3/4 length
and thats a new piece to wear out.

alternatively, pair it with a white singlet to spice up your outfit.
