if you want it to happen

'if you want it to happen baby, hold fast and believe you can make it happen baby. you can be what you please, all you gotta do is try, then try once again, then try a few more times, then try after then.'

mediation

recently i've been a new member/volunteer with CMC as a mediator aide. since i am just a newbie, i get to sit in at mediation sessions and watch how the mediation process takes place.

these 2 weeks i have been making trips down to the sub court to attend mediation session.

i remembered i once told a friend of mine that i got a volunteering post with CMC, and he told me its something like MPS and worse than MPS. well well, i beg to differ! CMC and MPS is 2 totally different thing. CMC offers mediation to parties whom the magistrate thinks that mediation is a better option to resolving their conflict rather than bringing a legal suit against the respondent/defendant. MPS on the other hand is like residents who have housing/immigration/financial problems will see the minister/MP and seek their help to write a letter to resolve the problem or provide them with welfare aid.

so far my sessions at CMC had been wonderful, but definitely not in the sense of seeing parties get angry with each other and almost at the verge of beating the other party up. but in the sense of the mediator's perseverance to persuade parties to take a more compromising position and allow the matter to resolve. different kind of people, there is a different way of approach and try to resolve the disagreement between both parties. this all lies in the wisdom of the mediator and i feel it takes an experienced mediator to know which method is the best.

met mediators who treated me like their 'daughter', sharing with me life experiences and the wisdom they have accumulated through their years in the world's biggest society university. many new insights and new understanding to the things i never thought they could be seen with a different perspective. it is really times like these that i love working with 'old people' because they never fail to share with me alternative views that widen my horizon. maybe i should post a few of the thoughts they shared with me (: sometimes i think i am old woman, not physically, but more so mentally.

with so much gained and the incapability to pen them all down, that is CMC for me right up to this point of time. if you have the interest and just wanna be a little kpo with other people's business, come volunteer at CMC. i definitely enjoyed the experience here and i believe you would too!
