[fashion] bagged bag galore

a really old bag i bought in probably 2006. be very amazed at how spacious this bag it. all the books and stuff that you see here, i managed to pack them all into this bag. mind ya i even managed to stuff another key pouch, packets of tissue, wet tissue, and a water bottle into this. amazing yeah? my current favourite! totally in love.

i really like this bag, and how chic it makes my outfit. but but but.... the sling strap gave way and now i cant bring it out. how sad! i am thinking of a way to mend it. the same thing happened to my 21st birthday pressie from my jc best friends! and worse, the beautiful blue skin peeled! i secretly went to check the price one day when i was out, and realised what a bomb they must have spend buying that for me. awww the quality isnt worth the price! sad!

my vintage pull and bear mini sling. i bought it in russia because i learnt my lesson the hard way. i was pick pocketed, and i bought this bag so that i sling it across me and hide them under my trench so nobody will get the chance pick me again!

i have a really bad habit. i change a school bag every time a new semester begins. see how crazy i am over bags! thats why i never buy bags that cost more than 50. here i bought my cheap Agnes B inspired bag. really sturdy good old bag! love it to bits. big enough to stuff all the essentials in and big spacious compartments to keep my key pouch and what not.

i bought this bag because i so wanted the balenciaga motorcycle bag, but you know being a poor student, i cant afford it, so i made do with this navy mel bag instead. well, it accompanied me all the way through half of russia, what more can i say?

DIY-ed bag! i changed the colour of this bag so that it looks more fashionable! love it! it stands really well on its own. i like bags like tt.

fred perry inspired bag. i bought this because it was so cheap, and could fit my files perfectly. such lovely grey colour. and its stripe, i like!

this bag is really really old, so old, i think its probably about 8 years old. i bought this bag in malaysia, orange sorbet. its small enough, but yet big enough to fit all the essentials i need to go to church, that is, on a sunday that i need not teach sunday school. love! but its all so yellow and worn out now, but i still love to carry it once in a blue moon. i love the charm though, i bought it to match the bag. since then, i've been making trips back to their counter to check out their range, but i feel they never really did made bags as good as this.

my collection of bags doesnt stop at these few. i have others, but they arent really my favourite, so i am not showing you them.

what bags do you use? how long is your bag's life span before they retire?
(*mine retires really soon, so i never spurge on them, spend less on each, buy more, thats my theory)

P.U.S.H : pray until something happens

i ripped this off someone's status on facebook.

its not you who will move the mountains, but God, all you can do is PUSH until it happens.

i leave you with that to ponder for the night.. ....while i try to clear my last legal commentary for this set of submission. i'm procrastinating, i admit.

[manicure] nude and glitter

pardon the fact that i am putting up repeated photos, thats because i want to show you the true colour of the nude polish topped with 2 layer of glitter. please pardon my messy mani, but at least, i hoped it inspired you somehow!

i am in adoration of this bag...ooh so atas

top: from bugis street
skirt: from one of the sales rack in bangkok
bag: from a shop at far east plaza
necklace: 3 coloured necklace from bangkok, star necklace from bugis street
shoes: (not seen here) from mondo

recently, i've been reading love.maegan's blog, and i am getting lots of fashion inspiration from here. so here, i try to wear as fashionably as possible. the black top is an asymmetrical top which i tugged in when i went for church service this morning, and pulled out half of it after service ended. i wore it with the red strip skirt so that the outfit looks like there is some layering because the top is a baggy one, and the skit is pretty fitting. here, i wore this necklace to up the mature look by a few points, and match it with the expensive looking bag i carry here.

i got this bag probably in 2007 or maybe even 2006. i've only recently got down to using it more often because back then, my mum used to complain how old i look carrying that bag. now that i've become more mature, and well, maybe i know how to dress to fit the bag, i carry this bag almost everywhere i go! its small, but so spacious! (i will do a bag collection post soon!!! wait for it people!)

happy sunday! God Bless you!!

i smell like sweet and flora

what is your signature fragrance? well, i haven found mine. i am a poor student who wants to smell good even though i am poor. and really, i started buying more 'like it' perfumes when i met my boyfriend and got attracted to him partly because of the lovely davidoff fragrance he uses. so to keep up with him so to speak of, i opt-ed for cheap brands here like silky girl's sugar, and body shop's white musk that was on sales. i realised weeks later that its a body mist not perfume ): but its alright, the fragrance stays pretty well. i am not afraid to show you the cheap brands of perfume i use here because well, i am a student, i go budget. so on a normal day, i use sugar and white musk interchangeably. when i want a more fun feel, i use white, when i want to sweeter more feminine feel, i use sugar instead. the other 2 smaller sample sized bottles, they are provocative by eliz arden, and nina. because they were either free samples or given to me by my mother, i use them only for special occasions so that i can prolong their lifespan. the purple heart perfume on the extreme left is passion by franck olivier paris. thats the perfume my boyfriend bought and we share it so that we smell the same. i like that idea! but honestly speaking, i prefer davidoff's cool water. its the smell of first love.

what is your smell of first love?

i am moving on, please follow me...@ just jo.anne

yesterday my long time jc friends came down to my place for a little chill out, chit chat session. here's a photo taken by my friend while we were enjoying the jacuzzi pool at my place.

i am in this transition phase of life, from graduation, to finding a job that suits me. so i thought i should share with you how i keep myself busy while hunting down the potentially right one.

so school has ended for me since late April, and since then, i have embarked on a project. i call it the library project; that is, i spend most of my time trying to revamp the church library, reopening it so that little kids can spend time in there and read. apart from that, i am also involved in programmes planning for the 16th church retreat that has just passed, so i was pretty busy with it trying to make sure every little detail was looked into and that it will run smoothly. while doing this, i applied for jobs, and went for a number of interviews in the middle. well, of course, that doesnt take up all my time. when i am free, i catch up with my friends, go out cafe hunting or shopping with them, but most importantly, i try to spend as much time as i can with my boyfriend before he leaves for training overseas. aww i really miss him loads. ok, i forgot to mention this, but i too try to spend more time at home with my parents, and resting to get back all the sleep that i've missed during the semester.

probably, something that might interest you is that i've gotten a freelance job. someone cracked a joke on me and said: 'freelance, freelance, later you become free all the time'. well, i am perfectly fine with this job because i can work from home writing legal commentaries, why not? anyway, it has always been my passion, and probably is a good playing card to help me get back to school say maybe 2 or 3 years down the road.

last, there is endless blogging that i do nowadays, and i really love the idea of making diy crafts and sharing it with you. so if you like it, follow my blog. i've decided to change my blog name and url altogether so that now it feels more personal and easier for you to remember my blog address.

well, thats it for now. i'll keep ya all updated if i've any progression to the next phase of life. in the meantime, do everything in joy! dont waste your life away!

[tips] clean out those old never worn more than once clothes

how long have you not clean up your cabinet? well, i do it quite often, once every holiday i have between my semester. how do you decide what to throw out? well i found this really good tip on facebook. (you see, how helpful facebook can be sometimes) anyway, the suggestion goes as follows, at the beginning of each year, hang all your clothes from inside out, that means to say the hook faces you. each time you wear a piece and hang them back again, hang it outside in like how i hang mine in the above photo. at the end of the year, throw out clothes that are left hung inside out. that sounds like a really good suggestion because how many times have i looked at a piece and tell myself, 'lets give it another chance', 'i will wear it soon', only to realise a month after another has passed and soon another year it sits inside my wardrobe, not seeing the sunlight.

i hope this has inspired you to throw out clothes that will see the sunlight on other people's body.

[diy] black laced sleeves, its spells a sexy edge

sorry for the ghostly photo, it must be the camera effects thats playing the trick. lace is the recent fashion and i too want to get on the bandwagon. so here's my little diy laced top, inspired by love maegan. she is such an awesome blogger! i totally love her blog. they never bored me out.

 materials needed:
1. singlet,
2. lace (i got my cheapo lace from daiso)
3. thread and needle.

super easy, just sew the lace onto the inner side of the arm hole and sew the ends together and viola, your done! so simple right?!?!

get your hands busy people!

oh so you wear this... magnetic bracelet

you know, i love accessories. i never feel that my outfit is complete without them. so i always wear at least one necklace. and since i bump upon something which i term as 'necklace layering' i wear multiple necklaces to complete the desired look. bracelets are something i always want to wear. i envy those who wear multiple bracelets and take pretty photographs of them to show them on their blog. but me, being a really rugged person, i am never good with wearing bracelets. i tired a few times, but everytime i am in class, or when i have to write something, i remove them so that they dont cause pain to me while i write. eventually, it was too much a hassle, i gave up wearing them altogether. now i stick by wearing a watch and this metallic bracelet. thats all.

so many people have came up to me and tell me/made the comment/ask me if the metallic bracelet that i wear is the magnetic one which claims to improve your health by simply wearing it. trust me to say this, i never believe in such things.

well, there is a lovely story behind this bracelet. it was given to me by my then 1 month old boyfriend on my 21st birthday. he told me he picked this design because its like the 'cross' holds us together, and he say, 'wear it everytime, just like how i hold your hands tight. awww he's so sweet dont you agree? and really, how right can he be to commit our relationship into His hands. i prayed to find the one before i turn 21, and He heard my prayer, He brought us together. since then, i have been wearing this bracelet everytiime i leave the house, because it reminds me of him.

slightly more than 2 years on, i cannot say how happy i am that we are still together. i cannot say we have never quarrelled, all couples do, but like what i always tell him, its not about finding the best person to be with, but being the best person for the right person. i dare say, we are working towards that goal.

its the 4th day that he is away, and the 11th day that we haven been able to see each other. i just want to say, i really miss you a lot. please come back in one piece soon!

aside from that long prose, here's the vintage watch that caught my attention when i was blog hopping. she was selling it for 22 and i was so tempted to buy it. but my fingers were too slow to place an order before it was sold out. so during my bangkok trip, i searched high and low for the alternative piece and got mine (seen in the photo above) for $6 only!

talk about vintage, talk about love!

birthday replay @ Medz orchard central

i have been to medz twice. first with my boyfriend, and the recent time with my friends. the collection of photos here are a combination of those taken from both occasions.

medz' a really sweet place to dine at with a market place like dining concept (like Marche). talk about the food they sell, its a wide range of Mediterranean food. but to me, it seems more like a collection of little European eateries because you find country names like France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece, and probably the only more med food is the Turiskish stall. But i am absolutely not complaining because i love rosti. anywhere that sells good rosti, they have me as their regular customer. (note, on both occasions, i ordered rosti. i would recommend plain rosti. the add-ons are simply not worth the extra amount you pay)

price wise, the average dish is about 10 odd dollars. pretty decent considering the fact that we have having such good ambience and food at such a up-town place; orchard road mind ya.

anyway, if you have the time, do drop by this lovely restaurant. oh yes, do dress up a little because many working class people dine there and i'm sure you dont wanna feel out of place.

happy day everyone!
