getting away with the office look

i am no expert in dressing up for the office, but here's my take on some essentials that you will need to pull off that office look without feeling uncomfortable or breaking that budget.

1. peplum top
you must must must stock up at least a peplum top in either of the monochrome colour, black or white. first, they flatter your figure and hide away your tummy fats. second, they make you look professional by giving you the clean cut look.

2. pencil skirt
get a pencil skirt in monochrome colour, or be daring and get royal blue, or red ones. they are easy to pair with, and add an edge of chic to your outfit, but not losing the office look. you can get pencil skirts in various textures, they add some fun to your outfit too.

3. heels
i would say, get these 4 colours; black, white, nude/brown and red. the first 2 are the safest colours to pair with and it goes well with almost any colour. nude is also great because it lengthens your legs giving you that illusion of height. red always adds some fun to the outfit. if you are a pro, wear sky scrappers, but if not, keep to a height that you are comfortable with. wearing heels gives you the additional height, and the illusion of power authority and seriousness at work. sometimes, the appearance does helpful illusions.

4. light make-up
opt for a light to nude make-up. be it wearing a thin film of BB cream/CC cream (the latest trend) or putting on some blush and enlarging your eyes with the help of some eye liner, they help. the light make-up helps you to look fresh and more refined. but remember, keep it simple. anything that is overboard, you are not doing it right.

i hope this little guide helps. sorry i have not written anything about wearing pants to work. not that i am against it, in fact i wore jeans most of the time during my schooling days, but somehow, i never look quite good in office pants, so for the moment, lets just kiv that. i will get back about wearing that once i have mastered the trick to looking good in dress pants or cropped pants. stay tune!
