well actually it wasn't really HCMc's tour because early in the morning we left HCMc for Mekong Delta. 离开喧闹的城市,接近幽静的原野, 朴实的生活,仿佛落叶归根。that's the beauty of Chinese, more so the most simple, yet most accurate description of the Mekong Delta tour.

back at noisy crowded HCMc, we visited City Hall, took photos with statue of Bac Ho. Ho Chi Minh was single and loved children, so they called him Bac Ho. after that we crossed a few roads to take a look at the opera house. it was a pity that we could only see it from across the road. well not as magnificent as those European ones, but still, had a style of its own.
well city tour ended with the last place of attraction - opera house, and to make the tour a complete one, we were dropped off at some shopping mall. when you see Adidas, Nike, Puma, Parkson, Samsung, LG and what not wherever you go, its just like pouring cold water on your hopes to shop for more traditional Vietnamese souvenirs. it makes me wonder, does having all these international brand names invade your country equates to globalization, modernity? that is also a question i leave you with to ponder upon.
