[diy] shorts in lace

today, i embark on another project,
a much bigger one than yesterday.

this is the pair of wide leg 3/4 pants that i have decided to work on.
the length is too weird and hard to match my clothes.
i had originally wanted to give it away,
but on second thoughts, i have decided to recycle it.

first, wear the pants, and gauge where to cut.
next, fold the pants like how i did in the previous photo,
pin the pants using big-headed pins,
here i use needles instead because i dont have big-headed pins.
but it works just as well.
next, hold taut both ends of the pants using your heels,
and cut. try to cut straight.

how it looks like after being cut.

i test it out by wearing it. seems good.

now, fold the hem of the cut ends inwards and sew them.
its alright if your sewing skill's just as bad as mine.

take a old top that you do not want.
un-stitch the lace off the top.
here i un-stitched the thinner lace.

i was so sick of sewing,
i measured the lace accordingly,
and apply fabric glue along the stitches i made,
then i line them carefully along the edge of the hem and stuck them down.
let dry, and you got a new pair of shorts!

here's how my shorts look like after all those cutting and stitching.

here's a clearer picture of it.
please ignore my top, not too matching.

on a side note,
my i hearts spb top is another diy.
it was a ordinary t-shirt before the diy treatment,
after washing it has shrunk too short for me,
so i cut off the neckline, snip off the sleeves, and the bottom sewed hem.
wash it and let the free edges roll over
and here's the end product.
wear it over a spag if its too short.
